Just like with “Blink“, I get the question all the time – what am I singing in “Bingo”?!
This time around, there actually is a hook with real (however playful) lyrics, as supposed to the inaudible and chopped up lyrics of “Blink”. The hook is as following:
“I’ve got the bing, the bingo, bing bing!”
As far as the chopped up vocals in the intro go, to my knowledge, there is no hidden message here (or is there?
); it’s just my random vocal samples cleverly assembled by Dahlbäck.
I read somewhere someone saying it sounded like I was saying
“Ett noll, bing! Noll Noll, Bing! Ett noll, bing! Noll noll, bing!”, meaning in Swedish
“One zero, bing! zero, zero, bing! One zero, bing! zero, zero, bing!
I thought that was a very clever interpretation, perhaps John had this in mind when he chopped up my vocals, who knows =)
So what does “I’ve got the bing” mean, exactly?! To me, it is what you say when a great idea comes to you. A lightbub lights up over your head – you have an epiphany of sorts. I have ‘bings‘ all the time when I’m writing lyrics, for instance… Like when I wrote the hook for Bingo
