Swedish Soup For The Soul
I’m not just saying this because I’m half Swedish and live in Sweden. But there is something incredibly mysterious about the Swedish music phenomenon. So much good music comes out of this little country that it makes you wonder – … Continue reading

Swedish Grammies: A joke
Tonight there are two major award ceremonies taking place in Sweden – the Swedish Sport Gala and the Grammies. But only one of them is being broadcasted live on TV – can you guess which? Nope, it’s not the obvious … Continue reading
Mainstream vs Underground music – Do I have to choose?
I have friends who would rather be caught with their pants down than be caught listening to Britney Spears. On the other spectrum I have friends that would rather be caught attending an AA meeting than be found at a … Continue reading

Today’s Music Industry: Power To The People
It’s interesting how the music industry looks today compared to how it was just a few years ago. We are now living in an age when anyone can make their own music and market it themselves, without the need of … Continue reading

The art of describing one’s music
I’ve been reading lately about the importance of being able to describe the music you write. If you want to get people interested in what you do, to come to your shows and check you out, or to take a few mins out of their day to listen to your songs; well, you have to be able to persuade and intrigue them. Just saying “my music is awesome, you should give it a listen” isn’t good enough.
It’s been a struggle of mine as it is for many artists since we’d like to believe our music is better and more unique than anything else out there, and sometimes words just aren’t enough. I’m not talking about my previous releases in the dance genre now; those songs are very different from the kind of songs I write myself. Continue reading

The Real Lyrics to “Blink”
Because I still get the question “What are the lyrics you sing in “Blink”?” I thought I should probably write a little post about it. I should have written this years ago but better late than never, right? =) The … Continue reading

And the new Myspace is…
I often hear the question “I wonder what will replace Myspace now that it’s dying out?”
Myspace was once a place where everyone hung out – regular people as well as bands and artists. Today, the regular people have left Myspace for Facebook, leaving behind the worlds’ musicians to promote their music to each other.
With social networking sites coming and going like shoe trends, it’s always hard to predict the next big hype. What could be the right answer today could be a completely different answer in a year. It’s not so much about what site will replace Myspace as it is “On what social network should I focus my marketing efforts?” I can’t tell you what the Myspace of 2012 will be, but it is becoming more and more crucial that musicians stop wasting their marketing efforts on Myspace and instead use them on 2010′s biggest social network – Facebook. For some of you this is old news, but I encourage you to read on anyway![...]

So what are the lyrics I sing in “Bingo”?!
Just like with “Blink“, I get the question all the time – what am I singing in “Bingo”?! This time around, there actually is a hook with real (however playful) lyrics, as supposed to the inaudible and chopped up lyrics … Continue reading

Where would the music industry be without lil Sweden?
Since it’s Sweden’s birthday today, I thought I would write a little tribute-entry to Sweden for its many and great contributions to the music industry! As many of you probably already know, Sweden houses quite an impressive list of songwriters and producers throughout the years who are responsible for many of the world’s biggest pop hits, like Britney Spear’s “Toxic”, N’Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” and The Backstreet Boys’ “Larger Than Life”. There are also a few Swedish artists you may have heard about *cough*Abba*cough* that have had international success as well.[...] Continue reading

Why I Think Spotify will end illegal downloading
Last week, I wrote about why I think Spotify is a great tool for artists as a means of spreading their music, and this week I want to go even further and explain why I think Spotify will probably and hopefully kill illegal downloading forever, putting the money back into the artists’ pockets after a decade of panic in the music industry. Sue me if I’m wrong, but I think I may be onto something here!
In the new version of Spotify, you are now able to import music to Spotify from your local harddrive (such as from iTunes). I just came across this article (heads up: it’s written in Swedish) that brings up the privacy issue of giving Spotify access to your other music. The author means that since all the major record companies basically own Spotify, it would be very hard for Spotify to withhold this user info from them, and this could mean that the labels would be using Spotify as a means of finding illegal downloaders and putting them behind bars.[...]
